MANILA, Philippines — Slotman Rodrigue Ebondo and relief guard Earvin Silverie shone as Centro Escolar drubbed New Era, 84-54, to remain unbeaten late Tuesday in the National Athletic Association of Schools, Colleges and Universities men’s basketball at Makati Coliseum.
Ebondo uncorked 17 points, grabbed nine rebounds, issued three assists and blocked twice to lead the defending champions Scorpions to their sixth win in as many games.
Coming off the bench, Silverie added 14 markers, including four three-pointers to typify the Scorpions’ sustained dominance that left the Hunters slipping to their fifth loss in six games.
CEU will try to close the first round with a sweep when it goes against Diliman Computer Technology Institute in the lone seniors game slated tomorrow at New Era/Lumera gym.
Host St. Clare extended its winning streak to six after a resounding 107-52 rout of DCTI later in the day.
Putting behind them their opening-day loss to the Scorpions, the Saints attacked the lanes, scoring 60 points in the paint, including 12 in transition.
