Iriga netters dominate Cebuana age group tilt

Iriga City standouts  won all three categories in dominating the girls’ division of the recent Cebuana Lhuillier Age Group Tennis Championships in Legaspi City.

Not to be outdone, Iriga’s top junior netter Harvey Vincent Alanis stamped his class with victories in both the 16- and 18-and-under boys’ divisions.

Glydel Guevara sparked Iriga’s title run by besting another Iriga ace, Andrika Anne Idioma, 6-1, 6-1, in the 12-and-under final.

Patricia Corporal then whitewashed Legazpi’s Zia Arcanghel, 6-0, 6-0, to bag the 14-and-under title before Nica Alanis capped Iriga’s sweep with a 6-0, 6-1 rout of Corporal in the 18-and-under final.

Alanis disposed of Naga City’s Nolan Gagalac, 6-2, 6-0, to clinch the 16-and-under crown and followed it up with a 6-1, 6-0 demolition of citymate Esmond John Roman for the 18-and-under title of the grassroots tennis tournament supported by Dunlop Sports.

The other final results: N. Gagalac d. Iriga’s Jan Harold Trillanes, 6-2, 6-2 (14-and-under); Legazpi’s Jennard Gonzales d. Trillanes, 6-2, 6-4 (12-and-under); Ligao City’s Julius Ceasar Gonzales d. Iriga’s Mark Egipto, 4-0, 4-0 (10-and-under unisex).
