Rodriguez touted to rule LPGT field anew

The sixth leg of the ICTSI Ladies Philippine Golf Tour tees off on Wednesday at Splendido in Tagaytay, and the question still left unanswered is: Who can stop Cyna Rodriguez?

The winner of the last three legs, Rodriguez sets out as the overwhelming favorite against basically the same field she has been toppling ever since the fledgling tour started last year.

In Tagaytay, Rodriguez will again have the advantage because of her length off the tees as Splendido would require not only accuracy but power.

Amateur Pauline Del Rosario was the last to fall to Rodriguez, losing by five shots in the Eagle Ridge leg.

Previous to that, Rodriguez ripped Thai Amolkan Phalajivin by a combined 21 shots in ruling the Jonh Hay and Mount Malarayat stops.

Jayvie Agojo, the former amateur superstar, will again give it a try, as well as Phalijivin and the likes of Sarah Ababa, Lovelyn Guioguio and Korean expat Kwon Seo Yon.

The only time Agojo won was when Rodriguez skipped the event at Riviera in Cavite earlier this season.

The 54-hole tournament is being backed by Nike, Pacsports, Custom Clubmakers and Sharp and will also have stops at Valley Golf in Antipolo before winding up at the Sherwood Hills leg in Trece Martirez in Cavite on Oct. 14.

Anya Tanpinco, Lina de Guzman, Eva Miñoza, the veteran Sylvia Torres and Lucy Landicho are also entered.
