Santiago, Bergsma lead Petron over Generika in Super Liga opener
MANILA, Philippines — Petron’s tandem of American import Alaina Bergsma and Dindin Santiago were too much for Generika as the Blaze Spikers won, 26-24, 25-18, 23-25, 25-23, in the opener of Philippine Super Liga Grand Prix Saturday at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
The 6-foot-3 Bergsma teamed up with the 6-foot-2 Santiago to cover both ends for Petron, which could’ve won in a shutout had it not blew an 18-14 lead in the third set.
Bergsma, a former University of Oregon standout, fired 23 points while Santiago tallied 22.
