Benibe emerges URCC champion

ANDREW Benibe got back at Rey Transmonte in style, scoring a technical knockout (TKO) win in the fifth and final round to win the vacant bantamweight crown of URCC 25 Colt 45 Thursday at Mall of Asia Arena.

Benibe put down Transmonte with a flurry of punches to complete his comeback in the event dubbed as “Takeover.”

Sharing the limelight with Benibe was Caloy Baduria, who scored a first-round TKO over Mark Palumar in a light heavyweight tiff.

Other first round winners in the event sponsored by Solar Sports, GMA 7, Tribal Gear, Chevrolet Makati, Hyundai Parañaque West, Shacman Motors, Inc and BYD PH were Chris Hoffman and Carlo Laurel.
