La Salle-Zobel pulls away on two fronts
DE LA SALLE-Zobel continued to lord it over the Juniors and Midgets 2 after the penultimate round of the ICTSI-JGFP Interschool golf championship recently at Eastridge Golf Club in Binangonan, Rizal.
De La Salle Zobel turned in its best score in four rounds of 158 as Jets Sajulga fired a two-under-par gross of 70, equivalent to 56 points, while Liam Cully and Aniceto Mandanas had similar 51s to pull farther ahead with 529 in Juniors play.
That sterling effort reduced the juniors competition into a battle for second.
Article continues after this advertisementXavier 1, far behind De La Salle Zobel with a 401 total after a 122, was just seven points ahead of La Salle Green Hills 1 and 11 points clear of Xavier 2.
De La Salle Zobel was also beyond reach in the Midgets 2 bracket of the tournament primarly backed by International Container Terminal Services, Inc. and also sponsored by the Philippine Golf Foundation, Martin Lorenzo, Golf Depot and Inquirer Golf.
Garri Nolasco and David Guangko scored 36 and 35, respectively, for a 71 and a 304 total for De La Salle Zobel, 41 clear of the 263 of Ateneo which carded a 61 on the 33 of Miguel Roque and the 28 of Leonid Rico.
Article continues after this advertisementThe final round of Midgets 2 will be held at South Links on Nov. 9 and the Juniors on Nov. 16 at Eastridge with the best four of five rounds of each team and player counting toward the overall team and individual scores.
Sajulga and Mandanas were running 1-2 in the individual race with their 181 and 179, respectively, with Luis Miguel Castro of Learning Links (177), Christopher Popp of Brent (176) not too far behind.
Sean Jean Ramos of La Salle Green Hills showed the way in Midgets 2 with his 167 good for a 14-point lead over Zachary Castro with Nolasco in third at 151.
