Aussie triathlete aces inaugural Bataan International Triathlon

BAGAC, Bataan – Australian triathlete Benjamin “Ben” Allen topped the ranking of male racers in the Largo Category of the recently concluded Bataan International Triathlon (Bi3) held at the Las Casas Filipinas de Acuzar heritage resort in Bagac, Bataan on November 29 and 30.

Allen finished the Largo Course: 1.5km swim (2 loops), 5km bike, and 11 km run in 2 hours, 55 minutes, and 35 seconds.

Following him in the ranking are Filipino triathletes John Abdul and Mervin Santiago who placed 2nd (with time 3 hours, 5 minutes, and 19 seconds) and 3rd (with time 3 hours, 14 minutes, and 44 seconds) in the Largo Top 3 Male Category respectively.

Courses

Bi3 offered two race courses, the Largo and the Rapido.

For triathletes who participated in the Rapido category, they accomplished a shorter course composed of 750m swim (1 loop), 30km bike, and 5.5km run.

Other prominent personalities present during Bi3 were British triathlete Jacqueline “Jacqui” Slack and Kapuso actress Jennylyn Mercado who joined in the Rapido Amigo category where she had her coach, Jojo Macalintal, as her race partner.
