60-year-old woman runner shines in QC night race

MANILA, Philippines- She could just have a good night’s sleep, but she opted to join the marathon.

At age 60, Luz Ringor was among thousands of runners who took part in the Quezon City International Marathon (QCIM) last Saturday night. The event was part of the city’s 75th anniversary celebration.

Ringor was no neophyte in marathon competitions. In her early 40s, she was already joining epic races.

“It’s a therapy and a stress reliever. It’s fun,” the 60-year old runner told INQUIRER.net.

“I always join marathons. But this is my first time to join a 3-kilometer run,” she said. She said she usually go for the 10-kilometer run.

Though she was competing with younger runners, Ringor was among those who finished first in the three-kilometer category.

“My run was smooth. My phasing is still the same,” she said saying she is also into dance marathon to stay fit and maintain her healthy lifestyle.

Ringor, a former government employee, said she enjoys running, especially when she meets new friends.

About her plans to stop running? She said as long as she can, she will run.

“I believe I am still fit to run,” she said.
