Master Yan and Joshua Torres reasserted their mastery over the field they dominated last week, bagging two titles each in the Palawan Pawnshop-Palawan Express Pera Padala regional age-group tournament presented by Technifibre at the Maasin, Capitol and SJC Tennis Club, in Maasin, Leyte, Sunday.

The second-seeded Yan, who swept the 16- and 18-and-under titles in Baybay, Leyte, last week, stopped giant-killer John Montalbo twice, pulling off a 4-1, 5-4(3) victory in the 16-U finals before the Hilongos native scored a 4-1, 4-2, romp to claim the 18-U crown in the tournament sanctioned by the Philippine Tennis Association.

Torres, from Baybay, thwarted Curt Salinas, 5-3, 4-2, to pocket the 12-U crown then frustrated Crisari Gaviola, 4-0, 1-4, 10-7, to annex the 14-U diadem and complete another twinkill in the four-day tournament hosted by Maasin Mayor Maloney Samaco.

“We laud Palawan Pawnshop and Philta for holding this tournament here in Maasin which is a big boost to our local tennis,” said Samaco.

Local bets swept the rest of the titles with Mary Joy Calapre ruling the girls’ 18-U section with a 4-1, 4-1 triumph over Princess Paler, and Angeli Albino dealing Paler her second loss with a 4-2, 4-2 romp in the 16-U finals.

Albino actually matched Yan and Torres’ feats as she also took the 14-U diadem with a 4-1, 4-1 win over Patricia Abaday while Wendelyn Tomon also posted a 4-1, 4-1 victory over Allyza Entia to nail the girls’ 12-U crown.

Maryella Jenn Entia rallied to eke out a 1-4, 5-3, 5-4 (3) win over Corazon Lambonao for the 10-unisex title.
