Brian “Hawaiian Punch” Viloria continued his climb back to the top with a fourth round knockout of Mexican Armando Vazquez Saturday night (Sunday in Manila) at Glendale Civic Auditorium in Glendale, California.
The four-time, two-division world champion dropped Vazquez with a lethal left hook to the liver that ended the bout at the 1:37 mark.
The 34-year-old Viloria posted his third straight win after yielding his World Boxing Organization and World Boxing Association flyweight belts to Mexican Juan Francisco Estrada last year in Macau.
Viloria, a former World Amateur champion and 13-year pro, raised his record to 35 wins (21 KOs) against four losses. Vazquez fell to 21-12 with four KOs.
An accidental head butt inflicted an inch-long cut, which required seven stitches to close, above the left eyebrow of Viloria, according to Dr. Ed de la Vega of Philboxing. Roy Luarca
