MANILA, Philippines–A Filipino-British youngster clinched a karting competition in Singapore, besting out other young talents in the motorsport.
Alex Brown clinched the 2014 Singapore Cadet Championship in the Singapore Karting Championship after a huge margin even before the final race in the five-round drive which was held the whole month of November.
The 11-year-old successfully defended his 2013 title against other young go-kart drivers at the Kartright Speedway, Upper Jurong Road in Singapore where he also held the fastest lap time.
“It’s been a hard year with very strong competition but this is what makes racing enjoyable to me,” Brown said.
Brown was born to a Filipino mother and a British father and despite being born and raised in Singapore, the protege has strong family ties with his relatives in the Philippines as dedicated the title to his grandmother Ramona.
Aside from winning the 2014 Singapore Cadet Championship, Brown also holds the best lap time in the 2014 Rotax Max Challenge in Malaysia where he placed 8th out of 30 racers.
Brown intends to return to Malaysia for the 2015 race and also participate in the World Karting Series in 2015 and make a good showing in Italy.
