MANILA, Philippines – Putting up a masterful performance, the De La Salle University Lady Archers shot down the still winless University of the East Lady Warriors 25-6, 25-16, 25-11, during their UAAP Volleyball dance Sunday evening at the Arena in San Juan.
It was a virtual no contest as a 25-6 scoreline in the first set greeted the Lady Warriors in the New Year.
A 12-2 dash in the third set ensured that La Salle would stay unblemished with a 6-0 win-loss record, the top of the league, and 0-6 record for UE, who still has to win a single set in the season.
A service ace courtesy of Ara Galang gave La Salle the matchpoint, 24-10, and a quick attack from substitute Mary Joy Baron, her lone point of the match, ended it all.
Lady Archers head coach Ramil de Jesus said he has to motivate his team to get the results just as the three-set sweep.
“I still need to motivate them further,” Ramil said.
He added that their improved serving was key in the victory where they knotted 16 service aces.
“Our service game was good, most of the time it turned out ok,” Ramil said.
Mika Reyes and Ara Galang led La Salle with 10 points apiece with Desiree Cheng and Cyd Demecillo had eight points each.
