Galliguez helps Cagayan remain unbeaten in PBA D-League

MANILA, Philippines — Abel Galliguez came off the bench and sparked Cagayan Valley’s 89-78 win over AMA University on Monday in the 2015 PBA D-League Aspirants’ Cup at the JCSGO Gym in Cubao.

Galliguez unleashed 11 of his game-high 20 points in the fourth quarter to lead Cagayan to its eighth win in as many games.

“I felt I had a rhythm so I took more shots and scored more. Our mindset was to be aggressive and that’s what I did,” said Galliguez, who also collected a couple of assists and steals in 25 minutes of play.

The Suns led by as much 11 points but needed Galliguez to pull them out of harm’s way. The stocky guard delivered nailing successive 3-pointers in a crucial stretch after the Titans had pulled to within three with still 8:05 left.

“I thought playing a year and a half here in the D-League helped me with my timing like knowing when to attack, when to take the shots, when to step up and make big plays.”

The Titans reeled to their third straight setback and fell to 3-6 despite getting 18 points apiece from James Martinez and Marcy Arellano.
