Donaire may fight at MOA March 28

Nonito Donaire Jr. may just stage his comeback fight in the Philippines.

Website ringtv.craveonline.com reported yesterday that the 32-year-old Donaire will fight against an undisclosed opponent on March 28 at Mall of Asia Arena in the undercard of a Donnie Nietes title bout to be promoted by ALA Promotions.

It will be Donaire’s first fight since he suffered a sixth round demolition at the hands of Nicholas Walters last October in Carson, California.

Donaire (33-3-0 with 21 knockouts) has earlier been reported to be fighting in the undercard of a Nietes bout in Macau early March.

But recent developments point to a possible return for Donaire who last fought in the Philippines in 2009 when he knocked out Raul Martinez at the Araneta Coliseum in a card that also included Brian Viloria.

Donaire’s conquest of Martinez sparked a run of success that saw him rise in the pound-for-pound list and eventually become the Fighter of the Year for 2012 by practically all media outfits.
