KUALA LUMPUR—Juvic Pagunsan fired a 1-under-par 71 (35-36) to trail defending champion Lee Westwood of Britain and Graeme McDowell of Northern Ireland by five strokes after the first round of the $3-million Maybank Malaysian Open Thursday.
Westwood and McDowell shot 66s at Kuala Lumpur Golf and Country Club West course.
Angelo Que (34-38) matched par 72 but Miguel Tabuena (35-39) and Antonio Lascuña (36-38) were in danger of missing the halfway cut with 74s. Asian Tour News
