MANILA—Two Filipino fighters with contrasting styles clash to boost their respective world title bid Friday at the Makati Coliseum.
Former WBA interim super flyweight titleholder Drian Francisco (20-1-1, 16 KOs) trades punches with ALA stable pride Michael Domingo (41-15-2, 19 KOs) in the top bout of the Pinoy Warriors card put up by Saved by the Bell Promotions and Solar Sports.
The Francisco-Domingo clash and six other bouts will be free to the public on a first-come, first-serve basis. The card will start at 6 p.m.
“We believe that ‘Pinoy Warriors’ will be a huge step in boosting the sport’s popularity because of its exciting roster,” said Saved by the Bell Promotions president Elmer Anuran, who thanked ALA Promotion executive Dennis Cañete for his whole-hearted support.
Francisco, known for his unorthodox fighting style, and the defense-minded Domingo promised to give fans a thrilling show.
“This is a crucial bout for my career,” said Francisco. “I am ready. Somebody’s going to fall.”
WBO and WBC bantamweight champion Nonito “The Filipino Flash” Donaire Jr. is anticipating an exciting clash.
“Those guys have opposite styles; Defense and offense fighting,” Donaire said.
