MANILA, Philipines—What Manny Pacquiao can do I can do better.

This seems to be the stance Floyd Mayweather Jr. has taken with regard to his pound-for-pound rival and likely opponent on May 2.

Hours after Pacquiao scored his first career PBA point, splitting his two free throws in KIA Motors’ upset 95-84 victory over defending champion Purefoods in the Commissioner’s Cup Wednesday, Mayweather posted an Instagram video showing him playing basketball Thursday.

In the first clip, Mayweather showed his shooting prowess, hitting four straight shots from the corner.

In the second footage, the unbeaten American displayed his hardcourt wizardry, hitting a triple, driving to the basket, and dribbling past two defenders then canning a short jumper off the glass.

It wasn’t the first time that Mayweather has resorted to social media in trying to prove his superiority over Pacquiao, who has agreed to all the terms the unbeaten American had imposed for a megabuck showdown at MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

Mayweather has posted clips of Pacquiao being knocked out by Juan Manuel Marquez before the Mexican icon asked him to refrain from using it to demean the Filipino eight-division world champion.

With Pacquiao basking in recognition in the United States, appearing as a judge in the Miss Universe pageant in Miami and attending the National Day Breakfast in Washington DC, and in London, where he had dinner with Prince Harry of Wales, Mayweather also posted several photos underscoring his status as the world’s highest paid athlete.

Mayweather also took time out to talk with Pacquiao during a break in a game between the Miami Heat and the Milwaukee Bucks last month and later visited Pacquiao at his hotel suite.

Weeks later, a short clip showing Mayweather supposedly telling Pacquiao that they must pursue the fight envisioned to be the richest ever ($250 million) in boxing annals emerged.

While reports are rife that both sides (Team Mayweather and Team Pacquiao) and both networks (Showtime and HBO) have reached an agreement, Mayweather continues to skirt the fight issue.

Mayweather is taking his sweet time, except on social media.
