La Salle booters crush UP, wrest UAAP top spot
MANILA, Philippines—Nate Alquiros provided the flash of inspiration as La Salle stunned University of the Philippines, 3-0, Thursday to wrest the solo lead in the UAAP Season 77 men’s football tournament at Far Eastern U Diliman in Quezon City.
The talented left-winger finished off a fine ball from Yoshi Kuizumi in the 77th minute before converting from the spot seven minutes later to boost the Archers to the top with 29 points.
Chuck Uy sealed the rout with a stoppage-time strike for Hans Smit’s side, which is aiming to give the school its first title since 1998.

“This is the best game we’ve played,” said Smit, whose squad has eight wins and five draws.
Meanwhile, Adamson University gained its first point of the season after battling 10-man University of the East to a 2-2 draw.
