La Salle’s Galang in intense pain after knee injury
MANILA, Philippines—La Salle skipper Ara Galang was rushed to the Makati Medical Center on Saturday evening after suffering an injury on her left knee during the Lady Spikers’ UAAP semifinals match against National University.
Galang told the medics of Ambucare EMS Solutions that brought her to the hospital that her pain was “10 on a scale of 10.”
Galang put La Salle up 23-20 with a down the line attack but fell awkwardly, with her left knee bearing the brunt of the fall.
La Salle defeated National University for the remaining finals berth.
La Salle officials, including head coach Ramil de Jesus, could not immediately determine Galang’s injury.
Meanwhile, Galang’s mother pleaded to the security guards of the Mall of Asia Arena to see her daughter inside the dugout but to no avail.
Galang’s mother wept as she asked to be let in the Lady Spikers’ dugout but security officials did not budge.
