MANILA, Philippines—Mired in debt, Philippine volleyball has no recourse but to save the country from further embarrassment.
Larong Volleyball sa Pilipinas president Joey Romasanta said yesterday they have committed to pay the country’s $90,000 (about P3.9 million) debt with the International Volleyball Federation or FIVB and the Asian Volleyball Confederation. The debt was left unsettled by previous Philippine Volleyball Federation (PVF) officials.
Romasanta said the $90,000 represented fees and other payments the PVF had failed to settle overseas, including hotel expenses during last year’s Asian Girls U17 in Thailand. June Navarro
