MANILA, Philippines — Add English actor Theo James to the growing list of celebrities pulling for Filipino boxing superstar Manny Pacquiao.
James, who is known for his starring role in “Divergent” and its recently-released sequel “Insurgent,” said he’s been a very big fan of Pacquiao for a long time now.
“I’m a huge, huge Pacquiao fan and I have been for a long time,” James said in an interview with Star Talk.
“Manny Pacquiao you’re an incredible boxer, great personality and good luck but you don’t need it, you’re a legend.”
Unfortunately for James, he won’t be at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas when Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather slug it out in one of the biggest fights in boxing history on May 2.
The 30-year-old James said he will just catch the fight on television because he will be attending his friend’s wedding the day after the bout.
James, who hasn’t personally met the WBO welterweight champion, also laughed off the idea of playing the role of Pacquiao in a movie.
“I don’t think that would be happening,” James said laughing. “But he’s a legend.”
