Philippine Navy showed that they had the bigger guns as they outlasted Philippine Coast Guard, 26-24, 25-14, 25-18, to open their campaign in the Shakey’s V-League Season 12 Open Conference Sunday afternoon at the Arena in San Juan.
Navy shook off a topsy-turvy first set to claim the momentum in the next two sets.
A win to start their season is what Navy head coach Edgardo Rusit wants to build on as their target is to strut with the league’s elite, Cagayan, PLDT, and Army.
“Just a little more push and we can hang around with them,” Rusit said.
Hezzymie Acuña and Pauline Genido combined for 22 points for the Lady Sailors while skipper Lilet Mabbayad added nine points.
Rossan Fajardo led the Lady Dolphins with 18. DL
