Hapee pips AMA; Liver Marin scores
Hapee unleashed a third-quarter barrage to down AMA University, 69-65, yesterday even as Liver Marin nailed its first win in the PBA D-League Foundation Cup at Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig.
Big man Troy Rosario poured 12 of his game-high 18 points in the second half as the Fresh Fighters rallied from an eight-point halftime deficit to outscore the Titans, 25-6, in the third quarter and eventually rise to 2-1.
Liver Marin leaned on a strong start to repulse MP Hotel, 82-68, for its first win in four outings.
Jovit dela Cruz fired 15 points to lead three others in double figures as the Guardians led by as many as 20 on their way to tying their victims’ record of 1-3.
Hapee took a 58-49 lead in the fourth but back-to-back treys by James Martinez tied the count at 58-all. The Fresh Fighters answered with two free throws by Scottie Thompson and a triple from Rosario to doom the Titans, who fell to 2-2.
“I was confident we had a chance to win this game and I’m pleased with the way the players responded,” said Liver Marin coach Rodney Santos.
