Thai dominates Ladies Invt’l

WICHANEE Meechai slowed down with a one-over-par 73 yesterday but still went on to post a 15-shot victory in the Splendido Ladies Invitational in Tagaytay, the biggest margin of victory in the three-year existence of the ICTSI Ladies Tour.

The 22-year-old Thai practically went through the motions, tallying a six-under 210 over the ravine-laden, wind-swept layout.

Her compatriot Walallak Satarak shared second spot with local bet Sarah Ababa at 225.

Ababa chalked up the finest finish of her young pro career, closing with a 73, with Satarak firing a day-best 71 to catch the Filipino.

Meechai’s victory gave foreigners triumphs in the first two legs of this season’s circuit, with young Korean Hwang Ye-nah nipping amateur Princess Superal for the Ladies Open title at Southlinks two weeks ago. Musong R. Castillo
