Malacañang, Judiciary duel Sunday

MALACAÑANG and Judiciary begin their best-of-three championship series tomorrow with both teams confident of their chances in the 3rd UNTV Cup at Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig City.

The Malacañang Patriots are slightly favored over the Judiciary Magis, having beaten the latter in the second round of elimination, 69-65.

For the Patriots to emerge victorious anew, they have to focus on their defensive strategy which proved effective the last time they clashed as they limited the production of Judiciary’s gunners.

Former PBA players Don Camaso and Ariel Capus and model John Hall will have to find ways to break Malacañang’s defense.

Malacañang coach Jenkins Mesina is hoping their victory over deposed champion Armed Forces of the Philippines in the semifinals will give them the extra zest in limiting the production of Capus and Camaso.

They also need to neutralize Hall’s powerful inside plays.

Senate and AFP dispute third place at 3 p.m.

UNTV CEO and chair Daniel Razon is offering P2 million to the champion which will be donated to a chosen beneficiary.

Game 2 of the finals set April 28 at  Smart Araneta Coliseum will also feature the UNTV All-Stars versus Team Skywalker fund-raising game for Samboy Lim, the PBA great who is recovering from a heart attack.
