Ceres seeks to stretch unbeaten UFL run
UNBEATEN side Ceres-La Salle faces Loyola Meralco in a battle of United Football League heavyweights even as defending champion Global tries to snap out of a winless run today at Rizal Memorial Stadium.
Seeking to extend its perfect start to seven matches, Ceres is expected to have its hands full against a Loyola side in the 8:15 p.m. duel.
A win will put Ceres on top ahead of Kaya, which is barely hanging on to top spot due to goal difference.
But the Sparks will be equally motivated with coach Simon McMenemy relishing another massive game for his squad. The Sparks actually beat Ceres on its way to the Smart Club crown early this year.
Ceres struggled to put away Green Archers, 2-1, last Tuesday, needing second half goals from Manny Ott and Juani Guirado to secure maximum points. Still, Ceres looks equipped to mix it up with Loyola’s top guns with a side bannered by league top scorer Adrian Gallardo (seven goals).
Global looks to vault past Stallion at fourth spot with a victory in the 5:15 p.m. clash against winless Manila Jeepney. Army and Team Socceroo seek their first wins in the 2:15 p.m. opener Cedelf P. Tupas
