V-League: Meralco jolts Baguio in straight sets
MANILA, Philippines – Meralco matched the summer heat as they razed Baguio in three dominating sets 25-17, 25-8, 25-14, to stay unbeaten in the Shakey’s V-League Sunday afternoon at the Arena in San Juan.
It wasn’t much of a contest as the Power Spikers immediately took control of the match as the Summer Spikers wilted under the immense offensive pressure.
Power Spikers head coach Brian Esquibel said his team is starting to gel even if its players have numerous commitments.
“The players are starting to gel, our guest players and our Meralco employees,” Esquibel said.
He added that his players still make time for practice even if some of them play in other teams in another league.
“Their hearts are for team Meralco.”
Abi Maraño led all scorers with 14 points while Cha Cruz added 10 for Meralco.
Fille Cainglet-Cayetano pitched in nine points.
Krissina Tsuchiya and Jhiesel Agudia had six points apiece for the 0-3 Summer Spikers. AC
