Marlon Alta retains Philippine super welterweight title

MANILA, Philippines—Marlon Alta of General Santos City kept his Philippine super welterweight title late Saturday with a unanimous decision against challenger Dondon Lapuz of Cagayan de Oro City at the Elorde Sports Center in Sucat Road, Parañaque City.

The heavy hitting Alta improved to 7-2 with five knockouts in the event dubbed as “Upakan sa Elorde,” organized by Elorde International Productions in cooperation with Macky Castro and North Star Sports.

Ryan Bito of Leyte defeated Roy Albaera of Laguna via an 8th round unanimous decision in the chief support. Other bouts saw Joe Maxian stop Vic Racomac in the third round and Gabriel Altarejos trounce Jason Berwela.
