After consecutive silver medals in the Southeast Asian Games, the Philippine women’s team is determined to come up with a golden performance this time.
“There’s nothing more to aspire for than the gold,” said head coach Patrick Aquino Sunday, who was appointed by the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas to steer the team after leading the National University Lady Bulldogs to the UAAP women’s title.
“We certainly feel the pressure, everybody is curious on how we will perform.”
Back for another tour of duty are Ewon Arayi, Analyn Almazan and Allana May Lim who will try to end their frustration two years ago with a victory in Singapore on June 5 to 16.
The two Most Valuable Players the past two UAAP seasons—Afril Bernardino and Camille Sambile—are in the squad along with Danica Jose, Shelley Ann Gupilan and Cindy Resultay. Sambile played for Far Eastern University and Bernardino helped NU capture this year’s UAAP crown.
Completing the lineup are Clare Castro, Sofia Roman, Fria Bernardo and Raiza Palmera.
