HOLLYWOOD — Dionisia wants no less than a victory by her son Manny Pacquiao over Floyd Mayweather Jr. on May 2 as a birthday gift.

Dionisia, who will be celebrating her 66th birthday 13 days after the long-awaited showdown, said that the eight-division champion has managed to win a big bout ahead of her birthday in the past.

“Masaya ako na ang anak ko manalo. Hingin natin ngayon, hiningi ko sa Diyos na sa kaarawan ko ay ibigay niya sa aking regalo ang panalo ng anak ko,” Dionisia told reporters just outside her son’s favorite Thai restaurant below the Wild Card Boxing Club.

Nowadays, the never-camera-shy Dionisia has her own following everywhere she goes.

She even has her own security to keep her from being mobbed.

Asked about the attention she’s been getting, Dionisia shrugged it off and said she’s used to it.

Dionisia also said she is not nervous for her son’s upcoming fight and that she had already given him an advice ahead of the biggest fight of his life.

“Wala, wala basta wala akong kaba,” she said. “Pati mga pastor sinasabi ko sa kanila wag kayong matatakot.”

“Basta strong ka lang wag kang mag-kumpiyansa. Ang kumpiyansa wag iiral sa ulo. Kailangan palaging nagiingat. Bantay ng todo,” Dionisia added.

Dionisia gamely answered questions from the media and after her interview, which lasted close to three minutes, “Mommy D” as she is fondly called, hopped in back to her car.

“Pasyal lang kami sa mall. Kasi si honey first time dito.”
