Ong-Sangil quarterfinal duel up in PH Am match play

Top-ranked Marc Ong of Singapore eliminated Manfred Guangko, 6 and 5, and Gido Mascarinas, 4 and 3, barged into the quarterfinals of the Philippine Amateur Match Play championship at Orchard in Cavite. Also reaching the last 16 were Raymund Sangil, former champion Rupert Zaragosa and Justin Quiban. Still alive in women’s play were Harmie Constantino, Asha Nocum, Annika Guangco and Kristin Toralba. Annika Guangco recorded the day’s only upset, a 2 and 1 win over top seed Nikki Bruce. Musong R. Castillo
