Gilas Cadets sweep SEABA for crown

Gilas Pilipinas cadets came to Singapore and picked apart the host team, 82-57, to sweep the 11th Southeast Asian Basketball Association and take the title Friday evening at OCBC Arena. Marcus Douthit, the only player in the Philippine roster above 30-years-old, had his first significant game in the tournament as he finished with 16 points and seven rebounds as the Philippines went a perfect 5-0. Kiefer Ravena and Jiovani Jalalon added a combined 27 points as the Philippines clinched a slot for the Fiba-Asia Championship as a bonus for winning the title. The Filipinos decimated the other Southeast Asian teams as it won by an average 68.4 points per game with a 111-point annihilation of Brunei to highlight their perfect run. After the Seaba victory, the Gilas Cadets would still play in Singapore for the Southeast Asian Games.
