Pacquiao 145, Mayweather 146 at official weigh-in

LAS VEGAS–Manny Pacquiao tipped the scales at 145 pounds Friday during the weigh-in for his welterweight showdown against Floyd Mayweather Jr at MGM Grand here.

Mayweather, meanwhile, checked in at 146 pounds.

The welterweight limit is 147 pounds.

Pacquiao and Mayweather square off Saturday also at the Garden Arena of MGM Grand in a fight that is being billed as the richest ever in boxing history. The fight is expected to earn as much as $400 million, with the fighters getting at least a combined $200 million.

Fans willed the auditorium despite having to pay $10 a pop for a prefight event that used to be free to the public. Proceeds from the weigh-in ticket sales will go to charity.

The two fighters took more than five years to get this bout signed, and their showdown will settle the pound-for-pound debate and unify the world welterweight titles.
