Wushu’s Jean Claude Saclag, the sanda fighter heavily tipped to bag a gold in the coming 28th Southeast Asian Games in Singapore, has been ruled out for the competition after tearing a muscle in his left shoulder.

Chef de mission Julian Camacho said Saclag’s absence means one gold fewer for the Philippines’ projected collection of at least 45 in the June 5 to 16 Games.

Saclag won his event’s silver medal in the 2014 Incheon Asian Games, losing to China’s Kong Hongxin in their 60-kilogram title match. The 20-year-old from Lubuagan, Kalinga, won the gold in the 2014 World Cup in Jakarta.
