Former champions Park Min-ung of Korea and local standout Rupert Zaragosa took the top two positions after Wednesday’s classification phase of the Philippine Amateur Junior Match Play championship in Alabang.
Park, the 2013 winner, and Zaragosa, who won the stroke play event several weeks ago, finished with 142s after a four-over-par 76 and level 72, respectively.
The Korean expat, though, won the tiebreak and drew the lightest assignment, 32-ranked Polo Lauron, in the first round of the match play proper today.
Yuka Saso, a former member of the rock-solid ICTSI squad, fired a 77 for 149 and the top ranking in the girls’ side, with Harmie Constantino, also the women’s champion, shooting a 69 for 150 and the No. 2 spot.
Zaragosa will be pitted against Ryu Rollida, with Saso slugging it out with Sam Green, the 16th seed, and Constantino ranged against Diana Araneta.
Bianca Pagdanganan was third after a 73 and a 151 total like Korean Koh Eu-na, who shot a 76. The Filipino won out in the tiebreak for the No. 3 ranking. Musong R.Castillo
