No final line-up for SEAG volley team yet as Gorayeb postpones announcement
A dozen players could have been named to the national team on Wednesday, but Philippine volleyball head coach Roger Gorayeb postponed his announcement for the time-being.
Only eight players from the prospected list came to Wednesday’s practice at Ateneo’s Blue Eagle Gym including Alyssa Valdez, Bea De Leon, Jia Morado, Jaja Santiago, and Gretchel Soltones, libero Denden Lazaro, attacker Maika Ortiz, and setter Rhea Dimaculangan.
Gorayeb said he had to postpone the announcement with five more of the prospects absent during the practice.
“It’s hard to make the team if we’re on this situation,” Gorayeb said.
Older players Rachel Ann Daquis, Aiza Maizo, Jovelyn Gonzaga, and Dindin Santiago-Manabat and Aby Maraño did not join the practice.
“Tanggapin na lang ng maluwag sa loob (we just have to accept it with an open heart),” Gorayeb said.
Gorayeb, though, did not disclose when he will announce the final 12-woman lineup.
