FOR volleyball, and for country.
That’s how V-League MVP Alyssa Valdez described Philippine Army’s drive in the Finals.
“Outside of the court, they fight for country, for the Filipinos. That’s the Army,” Valdez said as they tied the best-of-three Finals series at 1-1 Sunday at the Arena in San Juan.
Philippine Army’s Lady Troopers may not engage on actual combat, but Valdez said they have the spirit of the soldier that never gives up no matter what.
“Army is a veteran team, they will never stop. That’s what we want right? Even when they’re down, they never lose hope.”
PLDT was primed for a sweep but the Lady Troopers used their experience in the third set that put the pressure on the young Ultra Fast Hitters.
“Their attitude as a team, as a player, it’s remarkable.” AC
