Bombers clinch Filoil top seeding

JOSE Rizal University clinched the top spot while Far Eastern University completed the quarterfinal cast in Group A after separate victories in the Filoil Flying V Hanes Premier Cup yesterday at Filoil Flying V Arena in San Juan.

The Bombers disposed of Adamson, 85-77, for a group-best 7-1 record, while the Tamaraws clipped Emilio Aguinaldo College, 69-64, to secure the fourth spot at 5-3 on the penultimate day of the elimination round.

Cameroonian Abdel Poutouchi collected 20 points, 17 rebounds and six assists, while Dave Sanchez added 17 markers to power the Bombers.

For the Tamaraws, Ron Dennison and Monbert Arong came through in the crucial win that also eliminated idle National University.

Earlier, Southwestern University downed Lyceum, 60-53, in a battle of eliminated teams in Group B.

FEU joined Group A teams JRU, Perpetual and Letran in the quarterfinals, while Group B squads Centro Escolar U, University of the East and San Beda also advanced.
