LEARNING its lessons from a very recent past, Alaska kept its foot on the gas the whole game last night and tore KIA Motors to shreds, 101-63, to barge into the playoffs of the PBA Governors’ Cup at Smart Araneta Coliseum.

The Aces, who blew command in the third quarter and bowed to NLEX earlier this week, played hard until the final buzzer and went on to deal the Carnival the worst loss of their franchise and rise to 5-2 overall.

“In the last six minutes, they (Aces) honored the game and continued to play really hard,” Alaska coach Alex Compton, who took blame for the loss to the Road Warriors, said. “I can’t ask for anything else.”

San Miguel Beer extended its winning streak to six games to wrest solo second place after a hard-earned 96-92 decision of NLEX in the nightcap.

Arizona Reid scored nine straight points and helped the Beermen break free from an 86-84 game to climb to 6-2 and practically doom the Road Warriors’ chances of finishing in the top four after NLEX dropped to 2-5.

Meanwhile, Rain or Shine shoots for a second straight win when the Elasto Painters battle struggling Talk ‘N Text in a Petron Saturday Special Game slated at University of St. La Salle gym in Bacolod.
