Globalport import Jarrid Famous nearly set a PBA record for the most rebounds in a single game Sunday in the Batang Pier’s win over the Kia Carnival.
Famous recorded 37 rebounds, which is the most since former Ginebra import Michael Hackett finished with 45 rebounds in 1985.

The 6-foot-11 Famous, who is averaging 30.8 points and 20.6 rebounds per game this conference, also scored 30 points with three blocks to boot.
“My niche is rebounding – that’s what I like to do, that’s what I love to do. Setting the tone I feel like every rebound is mine so every time I just wanna go out there and just grab them all,” said the 26-year-old Famous of his feat.
What makes Famous’ performance more impressive is that he almost single-handedly out-rebounded Kia, which only had a total of 40 rebounds as a team. Famous also corralled 11 offensive rebounds to the Carnival’s 12.
Famous did that while also going up against a former NBA reserve in 7-foot Hamady N’Diaye.

“I’ve been playing against N’Diaye since college so that’s my boy. He plays hard and it’s a battle every time going up against him,” Famous said.
“He gets his points through offensive rebounding. He’s pretty relentless on the boards and I just try to limit him as much as I could and limit his team by getting blocks and intimidating,” N’Diaye said of his matchup with Famous.
But as good as Famous was, he was far from perfect missing 11 of his 21 shots and turning the ball over 11 times.
“We can forgive him for that (turnovers) because he gave us so many extra possessions with his rebounding,” said Globalport head coach Pido Jarencio. CFC
