LeBron James puts up historic numbers in NBA Finals in losing effort

Cleveland Cavaliers star LeBron James became the first player ever in NBA history to lead all players in points, rebounds and assists in the Finals, according to ESPN Stats & Info.

James averaged 36.5 points, 13.1 rebounds and 8.9 assists in the championship series against the Golden State Warriors.

James, a two-time NBA champion, recorded 40 points, 14 rebounds and 11 assists in Game 5 to become the first player to have as much points and a triple-double in the Finals since Jerry West did it in 1969.

The four-time MVP capped off his historic Finals performance with 32 points, 18 rebounds and eight assists in Game 6 but only to witness the Warriors celebrate their first title in 40 years in front of Cleveland’s championship-starving fans.

James’ remarkable effort also got him four of the possible 11 votes for Finals MVP. Warriors forward Andre Iguodala had the other seven votes to win the award. CFC
