Facing a coasting Alaska squad, GlobalPort made the most of the opportunity and took the 117-104 overtime win Tuesday to claim the fourth twice-to-beat advantage in the 2015 PBA Governors’ Cup quarterfinals at Smart Araneta Coliseum.

With Alaska resting its key cogs in the second half, the struggling Batang Pier pulled through in extra time to get to the fourth seed.

“Alaska played All-Filipino and we took that advantage. At least, we got the twice-to-beat, the number four spot. It’s a total team effort,” said coach Pido Jarencio.

Jarrid Famous finished with 34 points, 26 rebounds, and three assists despite an 8-of-14 shooting from the charity stripe to lead the charge for GlobalPort.

Stanley Pringle added 24 markers, seven boards, and eight dimes even as Omar Krayem went 4-of-7 from threes to wound up with 20.

Terrence Romeo put the cherry on top, scoring the team’s final 10 points in overtime to end up with 14.

With the win, GlobalPort will own a twice-to-beat edge in the playoffs and may face either Star or Barako Bull, who are battling for the fifth seed.

Cyrus Baguio had 20 points to lead Alaska, which already secured the top spot at the end of the eliminations with a 8-3 card.

Romeo Travis still got a double-double with 13 markers and 10 rebounds despite not playing in the second half, while Chris Banchero and Eric Menk both got 10 points apiece. CFC
