NBA Draft: Jahlil Okafor not questioning 76ers’ process
This early, Jahlil Okafor is indeed trusting the process.
Plucked third in the 2015 NBA Draft by the Philadelphia 76ers, the Duke big man is ecstatic to be the third center in the 76ers roster alongside Nerlens Noel and Joel Embiid.
Though he admits that he still don’t know what to expect at this point, mere hours after being called up on the stage by NBA commissioner Adam Silver, Okafor is beaming with pride with the optimism handed down to him by the management.
“I talked to the coach, I talked to the GM, and they’re both very excited,” he said via Cisco Telepresence on Friday.
“They feel really good and both said they were surprised that I was still on the board. It’s a great feeling for them to say those things and I’m here to start working.”
Many expected Okafor to be taken second by the LA Lakers, but with the blue and gold selecting D’Angelo Russell over him, the 7-foot-1 center saw himself going east to start his NBA journey in the City of Brotherly Love. Karl Anthony-Towns was selected first by the Minnesota Timberwolves.

“It was a dream come true for all of us. I worked so hard to get to this point. We’re all extremely excited and I’m ready for all of this,” he said.
And Okafor is already upbeat on meeting his new teammates.
“I’m excited about it and I’m looking forward to it. I know some guys on the roster like Jerami Grant and Joel Embiid,” he said. “I’ll work as hard as I can to be successful in this league. Hopefully, we can overcome those obstacles.” IDL
