AZ Reid, San Miguel prepared for Alaska storm
What comeback? AZ Reid and the San Miguel Beermen made sure the Alaska Aces would stay down and acknowledge their superiority.
San Miguel did just that as Alaska never took the lead in Game One and the Beermen decimating the Aces 108-78 like a bunch of bullies taking lunch money from weakened preschoolers.
Article continues after this advertisementReid said, despite their short break, they were up to the task opening the PBA Governors’ Cup Finals on a strong note.
“We were prepared for tonight, everyone was focused,” Reid said Friday at Mall of Asia Arena.
San Miguel made Mall of Asia Arena its drinking grounds with a 6-1 record in the season while Alaska were the meager drunks with a 4-5 record, and a 0-2 one in the conference.
Article continues after this advertisementStill, Reid said they were wary of Alaska, who won 13 games after falling in double-digit deficits.
“We know Alaska is a very dangerous team… We can’t make mistakes,” Reid said who finished with 32 points and seven rebounds. “I’m always the emotional guy, I always tell my teammates to be positive and stay focused.”
