Superliga beach volley action goes full blast
A FULL day of beach volleyball action touches off the inaugural PLDT Home Ultera-Philippine Superliga (PSL) Beach Volleyball Challenge Cup 2015 powered by Smart Live More today at Sands by the Bay in SM Mall of Asia.
The first of the matches is slated at 7:30 a.m. with the last game closing the schedule at 8:20 p.m. in the first of four Saturdays of the tournament featuring the country’s most popular players in men’s and women’s volleyball.
PSL ambassador Cha Cruz gets to display her volleyball prowess when she teams up with Micmic Laborte for Cignal HD against the hard-hitting Danika Genrauli and Jane Diaz of Gilligans at 2:30 p.m.
Article continues after this advertisementLaborte was part of the bronze-winning pair in the 2005 Southeast Asian Games, while Gendrauli is the other half of the 2011 Cebu Schools Athletics Foundation Inc. champion pair.
Court beauties Alexa Micek and Fille Cayetano of Petron Sprint 4T battles Bea Tan and Pau Soriano of Foton Hurricane at 3:20 p.m. The two matches will be aired live on TV5.
Another interesting match pits Benguet Electric Cooperative’s Cindy Benitez and Florence May Madulid against Foton Tornadoes’ Patty Orendain and Fiola Ceballos at 4 p.m.

“The format is designed in such a way that only the toughest team will survive,” said PSL president Ramon “Tats” Suzara.
In men’s play, Champion Infinity A battles Perpetual Molino A at 7:30 a.m., SM By the Bay B slugs it out with Cignal HD Spikers A at 8:20 a.m., Cignal HD B takes on Perpetual Molino B at 9 a.m.; Champion Infinity B clashes with Instituto Estetico Manila (IEM) at 9:40 a.m.; Centerstage duels Cignal HD Spikers A at 10:20 a.m., and Champion Infinity A challenges SM By the Bay B at 11 a.m.
