Last-gasp Global XI seeks key victory

/ 02:29 AM July 18, 2015

GLOBAL seeks to stay in the title hunt when it clashes with Manila Jeepney while Stallion and Green Archers square off in what is expected to be a dogfight tonight in the United Football League at Rizal Memorial Stadium.

Six points off leader Ceres with four matches left, Global’s chance of retaining the title is already a long shot after dropping four points from its first four games in the second round.

But the defending champions, who have 28 points, can still catch the Bacolod side at the top if they sweep their remaining games while hoping that Ceres drops its last four games.

Just like Global, Stallion is still mathematically in contention with 24 points. But a loss against Archers in the 7:45 p.m. kickoff will formally eliminate them from the title race. Cedelf P. Tupas
