Now, it’s official.
Tim Cone formally met journalists as the head coach for Ginebra, while Jason Webb has been placed as the lead tactician for Star for the 41st PBA season.
San Miguel Purefoods president Francisco “Butch” Alejo and Ginebra San Miguel president Bernie Marquez made the decision to hire Webb formal Thursday at San Miguel Executive Dining Hall, ending the weeks long of speculations as to who will take over the coaching post Cone vacated.

“They say the only constant thing in this world is change, and change means new beginning and opening up of new possibilities. Today, I have full confidence that the best man to lead us is coach Jason Webb,” said Alejo, parting ways with Cone who gave the franchise five championships in the last four years while ushering in a new beginning with its new coach.
For his part, Marquez hopes that Cone’s arrival will help Ginebra fare better in the coming years.
“There is no question in coach Tim’s caliber. He is very much admired and respected by all Filipino basketball fans. We look forward to him inspiring the troops to contend and perform better than what they did in the past few years,” he said.
