Alabang matched Forest Hills’ 156 output, then nipped the hosts in the tiebreak to capture the Class C title and keep the overall lead halfway through the Champion Infinity WGAP 2015 Circuit at Forest Hills in Antipolo City recently.
Maria Elena Villanueva shot a 42, Minerva Castillo carded a 40 and Maria Brumann and Gloria Garcia added 38 and 36 points, respectively, under the Stableford system to lift the Alabang squad.
Marilyn Co sizzled with 43, Jee Cabochan and Lillian Lu each shot 38 while Eleanor Leung tossed in 37 for Forest Hills for a similar 156. But Alabang prevailed with a total handicap of 118 as against Forest Hills’ 120.
The win, worth three points, raised Alabang’s total to 17, keeping Forest Hills at bay at 15 while Tagaytay Highlands and Canlubang stayed in the hunt with 11 and 9 points, respectively, after four legs of the eight-stage circuit organized by Women’s Golf Association of the Philippines and presented by Champion Infinity.
Tagaytay placed third with 153 followed by Camp Aguinaldo (147), Villamor (136), Sta. Elena (132), Canlubang (129), Manila Golf (115) and Valley (114).
Co took the individual plum.
Orchard nipped Valley and Forest Hills to rule Class A while Cangolf upended Alabang and Aguinaldo to take Class B honors.
Meanwhile, in the third leg at Orchard, Tagaytay topped Class C with 155 as Margaret Tan scored 42, Deena Mendiola made 40, Rosalind Wee added 37 and Dionne Cu chipped in 36 for a 10-point romp over Forest Hills. which was led by the 44 of individual winner Evelyn Alcantara.
Cangolf finished third with 142 followed by Sta. Elena (141), Villamor (140), Orchard (137), Alabang (135), Eagle Ridge (133) and Camp Aguinaldo (129).
