Still chasing bigger named opponents, Amir Khan is now targeting a fight with Manny Pacquiao in Dubai.
In a report on BoxingScene.com, Khan was quoted by Sport360 detailing his possible plans to stage a fight in the Middle East against the eight division boxing world champion next year.
“A fight with Manny Pacquiao in Dubai could be massive. I’d love to take that fight. We’re friends but sometimes you’ve got to put friendship to one side,” he said.
Khan is a former stablemate of Pacquiao under coach Freddie Roach before leaving to train under Virgil Hunter in 2012.
A possible fight between the two was previously discussed before Pacquiao spurned Khan for the Mayweather mega-fight.
Khan also fell flat in his chase for a Mayweather fight, as the undefeated champion selected Andre Berto for his September bout.
The British boxer said that it was no less than Bob Arum of Top Rank who reached out to him about staging a Dubai fight in 2016.
“That fight would be amazing. If that fight does come off, it would be towards the end of next year in Dubai,” said Khan. “Obviously Dubai has a big Filipino community and a big British and Pakistani community, too. It would be a massive fight.” CFC
