Shakey’s V-League: Lady Eagles set sights on semis berth

Ateneo takes on another dangerous challenger when it goes for the first semifinal berth in the Shakey’s V-League Season 12 Collegiate Conference Saturday at Filoil Flying V Arena in San Juan.

Vying to sustain its unbeaten run, the Lady Eagles clash with a motivated Arellano side in the quarterfinal match between two collegiate champions at 3 p.m.

“Our coach reminded us to be consistent,” said Ateneo star Alyssa Valdez.

University of Santo Tomas—locked in a three-way tie at 3-1 with idle National University and Far Eastern University—targets the solo second spot versus University of the Philippines at 12:45 p.m.

EJ Laure looks to lead the Tigresses anew after the sophomore standout powered her team to an upset win over the NCAA champion Lady Chiefs, 25-21, 25-22, 19-25, 24-26, 15-12, last week.

“She has accepted her role and she has matured,” UST coach Emilio Reyes said of Laure, the UAAP Rookie of the Year last season.
